It has been an exciting and interesting journey to work with our students in the Read to Achieve Camp this year. They enjoyed reading for fun and learned different kinds of information from the books that they have read online.
During the first few days of using the computer lab, the students were able to utilize Tumble books, Storyline online, Free rice, Just books read aloud, Epic, Kahoot and Quizizz.
For the most part, the students were able to use Epic to read a variety of amazing books online. It was so amazing and very productive learning experience for them to engage themselves in reading fiction and nonfiction books. The kids loved to read informational texts found in their mailboxes. They have read different kinds of sports, animals and stories. It was too fascinating and inspiring to see the joy in them when each one of them would be excited and overjoyed to see their scores reached 100% after several attempts to pursue their goals of getting 100 % every time each student took the test of every book they've read. Epic reading activity this summer with our boys and girls was completely a hit and a home run for the most part every time they come to the computer lab.
After the use of Epic, they were invited to join Kahoot or Quizizz for fun and educational enhancement activities to review their knowledge about nouns, verbs, and other parts of speech and also explore about synonyms and antonyms and more.
The students can only transitioned to Reading eggs if they met 80% to 100% of mastery on Quizizz. The Reading eggs has been use as their rewards to get on and still learned something about words and reading exercises in a form of games.
There were students who were struggling to reach their goals of 80% to 100% but after several attempts/tries, they were in to it. It was a wonderful and challenging learning experience for our kids especially to those who were able to use the "read to me" books because they were overwhelmed by the variety of books they can explore and choose to read but it was fun and engaging for them.
